Severe Weather Could Pack Wind Damage,Hail And Flooding Rain In Central US Tuesday

Areas from central Texas into Oklahoma and Missouri have the greatest chance to see severe storms and localized flooding rainfall.

Wind,Hail,Tornado Threat Through Monday

A storm system tracking through the Plains and Midwest is hauling a threat of severe storms and heavy rain today,including from Texas to possibly as far north as the western Great Lakes.

Heavy rain,thunderstorms,and tornadoes are ongoing right now in a broad area of the central U.S.,as shown below.

Parts of western Kansas and eastern Missouri are seeing extremely heavy rainfall and flash flooding with many reports of impassable roads and cars submerged. Some areas have already seen between 2 and 5 inches of rain fallen with the possibility of additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches in some warned areas.

The greatest chance of severe storms today is from central Texas to Oklahoma,southeast Kansas,western and northern Missouri,west-central Illinois and southeast Iowa. Strong,damaging winds and hail will be the main threats,but a tornado or two cannot be ruled out.

This includes places like Dallas-Fort Worth,Oklahoma City and Tulsa,Oklahoma,Wichita,Kansas,and Kansas City.

Localized heavy rainfall could also trigger flash flooding in many of these same areas.

Isolated severe storms might also extend as far north as the western Great Lakes,including Milwaukee.
